Dr. Salvador Hernández Flix, Head of the Pneumology Department at the Hospital Universitari Sant Joan de Reus, has ended his professional career at Salut Sant Joan after more than 37 years. Dr. Hernández Flix began his professional journey at the Hospital in 1989.
Throughout these years, Dr. Hernández Flix has been a physician who not only practiced pneumology with excellence but also built the service in a center where it practically did not exist. Alongside Dr. Rosa Tomàs and later Dr. Anna Teixidó, he consolidated a modern service committed to the needs of patients and the region.
He has promoted specialized clinics, advanced diagnostic techniques, functional explorations, and care programs developed with newly incorporated professionals, always ensuring a working method based on scientific rigor and human proximity. He also established a Pneumology School, accrediting the service for the training of MIR specialists.
However, services are made by people. His most important legacy is the professionals he trained, the teams he united, and the values he transmitted. His patients have found knowledge and security in him, with a very human vision of the medical profession.
