It had been 35 days since the team coached by Jordi Garcia had secured a victory in the OK Liga, dating back to December 14. This narrow 3-2 triumph against a direct rival from the lower zone, SHUM Frit Ravich, allows the 'red-and-blacks' to breathe and face upcoming commitments with renewed morale.
The match started with local dominance, and captain Joan Salvat opened the scoring in the 5th minute with a powerful shot (1-0). Despite a blue card shown to Xevi Gurri of SHUM in the 7th minute, Reus failed to capitalize on the numerical advantage. Before halftime, Salvat scored again following an assist from Pol Martínez, making it 2-0.
This victory was crucial to regain the team's confidence and move away from the bottom half of the OK Liga standings.
The second half began with a quick third goal, scored by the Argentinian Maxi Oruste in the 27th minute, assisted by Marc Julià (3-0). When the game seemed decided, SHUM reacted with a penalty converted by Roger Presas in the 39th minute and an individual goal by Xevi Gurri in the 42nd minute, tightening the score to 3-2.
The final minutes were high-tension, with both teams reaching their ninth team foul. Although SHUM coach, Jordi Garcia Altarriba, opted for a five-player attack, the score remained unchanged. Now, Reus Deportiu shifts focus to the Champions League, where they will face Saint Omer in France this Thursday.
