The Deputy Director of Civil Protection, Imma Solé, warned on Sunday that the Harry storm episode will intensify on Monday and Tuesday on the Catalan coast, posing maximum risk due to heavy swell and rainfall.

The Harry storm, which has been affecting Catalonia since Saturday, is expected to intensify, especially in the northeast and along the coast, during Monday and Tuesday. The Catalan Meteorological Service (Meteocat) has activated the maximum danger warning, as waves are expected to exceed four meters in height. This Levante storm has been described by Meteocat's Head of Forecasts, Santi Seglà, as a “textbook” low-pressure system.

"After days of precipitation, rivers flowing happily and a lot of new snow, two very complicated days are coming."

The second impact of the storm arrives with reservoirs in the internal Catalan basins already at 85.4% capacity, with Susqueda at 92% and Sau at 86%. Rainfall accumulations of between 150 and 200 liters per square meter are expected in the eastern half of Catalonia during the episode, including areas of Tarragona and the Terres de l'Ebre.
The rain already accumulated until Sunday morning exceeded 100 liters in sectors of Baix Camp, Priorat, and Vall Fosca, with a maximum of 127 liters recorded in Montbrió del Camp. In the Eastern Pyrenees, new snow could reach 80 centimeters, keeping the Allaucat plan active in pre-alert phase.

"It has been six years since the Gloria storm, and we are not facing the same virulence, but perhaps we could have 60% or 70% of that intensity over the four days."

Santi Seglà · Head of Meteocat Forecasts
Civil Protection maintains the Inuncat (flooding) and Neucat (snow) plans in the alert phase. Both organizations have urged the public to exercise extreme caution, especially when traveling, as roads may be cut off or require snow chains.
