The municipality of Aldover, in the Terres de l'Ebre, is preparing to host the Riuviu Festival from June 19 to 21, a new cultural proposal that will merge various artistic disciplines with gastronomy and nature.

The River Beach and the Ribera Forest of Aldover will be transformed into the setting for this event, which seeks to position the cultural fabric of the region in Catalonia. For three days, Aldover will become a playful and artistic hub, offering around thirty activities aimed at family and young audiences, with a program that includes theater, artistic installations, circus, dance, and music.

"It is born with the will to activate, connect, and make the cultural life of the Terres de l'Ebre flow; to make culture a driving force for encounter and to make the territory more alive than ever; and, for rurality to be at the center of creation to claim that we are not a periphery."

Aida Mayor Bel · Head of the Cultura iau! association
The Riuviu Festival is the first initiative of the Cultura iau! association, a recently created entity with the aim of managing and supporting the professional cultural fabric of the Terres de l'Ebre. The association, led by Aida Mayor Bel, advocates for rurality and artistic creation, emphasizing that Aldover's location is not accidental, but rather part of the festival's essence, symbolized in its name: 'Riu' for landscape and roots, and 'Viu' for movement and active culture.

"We want our territory to be a driver of innovation, cultural quality is not exclusive to cities: Aldover demonstrates that the rural world is a space for first-class creation."

Rosalia Pegueroles · Mayor of Aldover
The mayor of Aldover, Rosalia Pegueroles, has expressed her support for this type of event, highlighting the importance of revitalizing the town and demonstrating that the rural world can be a space for first-class cultural creation. The festival has the economic support of the Diputació de Tarragona, the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, the Consell Comarcal del Baix Ebre, the Biosphere Reserve, and Festivals Terres de l'Ebre, among others.
In addition, the Institute for the Development of the Terres de l'Ebre regions (IDECE) also supports the initiative, as, according to its director Bibiana Porres, the festival encompasses various lines of work of the institute, such as the promotion of the territory and gastronomy, placing the Ebro River at the center. The project also includes an educational aspect with the Llavors program, which will offer workshops and artistic programming in Aldover's schools throughout the school year, with the support of the Department of Culture and the Ministry of Culture, to defend public, Catalan, and rural education.
