The Plenary Session of the Consell Comarcal del Baix Ebre has approved an addendum of €419,000 for the 2026 Programme Contract for Social Services with the Generalitat de Catalunya, bolstering key support.

The Consell Comarcal del Baix Ebre has greenlit the addendum for the 2026 exercise of its Programme Contract for Social Services with the Generalitat de Catalunya. This funding update will bring an increase of approximately €419,000 to the regional council, as part of agreed improvements to strengthen social services managed by Catalan local entities.
The agreement includes significant enhancements to services such as the Home Help Service (SAD), the Child and Adolescent Care Team (EAIA), and the Extended Family Intervention Service (SIFE). Furthermore, a simplification of various administrative procedures related to the management of these services is planned.
The president of the Consell Comarcal del Baix Ebre, Antoni Gilabert, positively assessed the resource increase, stating that "it represents a recognition of the work carried out by social services at the local level." He highlighted that these funds will allow for the reinforcement of essential services in the Baix Ebre region and reduce the financial burden previously borne by municipalities for their funding, a long-standing demand from local authorities.

"This increase allows us to move forward, but it is important that this funding effort continues and even grows in the coming years. The comarcal councils are a key element in ensuring quality services throughout the territory, especially in smaller municipalities, and we need sufficient resources to continue responding to citizens' needs."

Concurrently, the Plenary Session ratified the participation of the Consell Comarcal del Baix Ebre in the application for the Treball i Formació (Work and Training) program, line ACOL, promoted by the Servei d’Ocupació de Catalunya (Catalan Employment Service). The candidacy, led by the Ajuntament de Tortosa (Tortosa City Council), brings together various administrations and entities, including the city councils of Deltebre and l'Ampolla, Càritas Diocesana de Tortosa, Grup Esplai Blanquerna, AVANTEBRE SCCL, and Saó Social + Acció + Oportunitats SCCL. Thanks to a grant of approximately €30,000, the Consell Comarcal plans to hire one full-time employee.
Gilabert emphasized the importance of this collaborative initiative: "this initiative demonstrates that collaboration between administrations and entities is the best way to generate employment opportunities and respond to the social needs of the territory. When we join forces, we multiply our capacity to help people and build a region with more opportunities for everyone."
