The Mayor of Deltebre, Lluís Soler, visited the Fangar Bay area this Saturday to assess the damage after a severe windstorm pushed seawater deep into agricultural lands.

The storm surge caused saltwater to flood rice fields up to one kilometer inland. In the Canal Vell lagoon area, the water reached 2.5 kilometers from the coastline. This event has raised alarms among local producers due to the long-term impact of soil salinization on future harvests in the Ebro Delta.

"History will judge those who, faced with scientific evidence, have decided to look the other way and turn inaction into a decision of abandonment."

The local government is currently coordinating a formal protest against the Spanish Government's new coastal boundary proposal. Residents are being encouraged to submit official objections through the municipal website to demand structural protections instead of land abandonment policies.
