The Commission for the removal of Francoist symbols in Tortosa has asked the Government to urge the Administrative Court Number 2 of Tarragona to allow the removal of the Ebro river monument to proceed.

The organization is demanding the lifting of precautionary measures that have halted the dismantling works. This request follows the Supreme Court's rejection of appeals from far-right groups that opposed the declassification of the monolith.
The only remaining legal hurdle is a challenge by the COREMBE association regarding the building permit issued by Tortosa City Council. The judge had paused the works pending a TSJC ruling on the monument's status, which has now been clarified by the higher court.
The Commission argues that after the Supreme Court's backing, there is no longer any justification for the delay and insists on the immediate removal of the Francoist vestige from the public space.
