Tarragona Provincial Council allocates 4.7 MEUR for damage repair due to adverse events

Grants are distributed among town councils, decentralized municipal entities (EMDs), and county councils to restore assets and services affected by storms, fires, and other exceptional situations.

The Tarragona Provincial Council has approved the allocation of grants totaling 4,709,848.09 euros, intended for the repair of municipal assets and services affected by adverse weather phenomena and other exceptional situations within the province.

Of this amount, nearly 2.9 million euros will be specifically allocated to the Ebro region. The grants are aimed at town councils, decentralized municipal entities (EMDs), and county councils, with the objective of covering expenses arising from damage caused by climatic alterations, natural disasters, or forest fires, such as floods, wind damage, hailstorms, or fire damage.
Furthermore, the funds will also cover investment expenses and urgent actions to restore essential services like potable water supply, sewage systems, public lighting, road paving, and municipal facilities. Exceptional and urgent technical, economic, or legal assistance costs can also be covered. The events prompting these grants must have occurred between April 1, 2025, and March 31, 2026.
Among the actions benefiting from these grants are the adaptation of beaches in Alcanar, the construction of a breakwater on the Camí de la Barberana in Aldover, the repair of a courtyard at the municipal school in Benifallet, and the repair of sections of the Via Verda in Terra Alta and Baix Ebre.
The list of granted aid includes numerous municipalities in the province. For instance, the Town Council of Alcanar will receive 99,829 euros for various actions such as beach adaptation and the replacement of the town hall's skylight. The Town Council of Aldover will receive 120,000 euros for the construction of a breakwater and the repair of roads affected by rain. The Town Council of Amposta will receive 126,710 euros for emergency works related to DANA Alice and repairs to municipal facilities.
Other municipalities such as Benifallet (92,543 euros) for the recovery of the school's courtyard, Benissanet (120,000 euros) for the reconstruction of a wall and repair of the sports field, or Bot (54,965 euros) for the improvement of rural roads and the swimming pool lawn, will also receive funding. The Terra Alta County Council will receive 2,286 euros for the repair of the Via Verda, while the Baix Ebre County Council will receive 83,252 euros for the replacement of a fence and stabilization of a tunnel on the Via Verda.
