The new infrastructure will have a storage capacity of 185,000 cubic meters, exceeding the current raw water tank integrated into the treatment plant by 10,000 m³. This new construction will be located on an adjacent plot to the existing tank, covering an area of 27,000 square meters. The trapezoidal structure will be formed by reinforced concrete walls between 5 and 7 meters high and will be completely uncovered.
The design will allow for independent or simultaneous operation with the original tank, ensuring the continuity of the treatment process even during maintenance or downtime. With this expansion, the Consortium will be able to have up to 360,000 cubic meters of untreated water in L'Ampolla, capable of guaranteeing supply to its members for approximately two days in case of incidents at the river or intake facilities.
The construction works must be completed within a maximum period of 18 months. Offers can be submitted until June 26, 2026, at 1:00 PM. The maximum budget for the contract amounts to 16,307,704.42 euros. Funding will primarily come from a loan with the Institut Català de Finances (ICF), while the remaining cost will be directly covered by the Consortium.
In parallel, a public tender has been opened for the technical assistance service for the supervision of the work, valued at 302,453.06 euros. This contract is divided into two lots: one for construction-related matters (design, feasibility studies, site supervision) and another for quality control.
