The audiovisual creation contest, under the motto “To coexist is to respect,” invited young people to reflect on building inclusive environments based on empathy and the recognition of human dignity. The event, organized by the Association of Friends of Tortosa for UNESCO and the Rovira i Virgili University (URV), presented the awards for the 2025-2026 call last Saturday in Tortosa.
This year, 92 videos were submitted, 16 more than last year, distributed across six categories. Participation included schools, institutes, and entities from 25 different towns, mainly from the Terres de l’Ebre, but also from other parts of Catalonia, Aragon, the Balearic Islands, and Ecuador.
The awards ceremony, held at the Institut Dertosa in Tortosa, was attended by the mayor of Tortosa, the vice-president of the URV Social Council, the director of the URV Terres de l’Ebre Campus, and the president of the Association of Friends of Tortosa for UNESCO.
“"Peace is not only the absence of war, but the presence of justice, dialogue, and respect."
The president of the Association of Friends of Tortosa for UNESCO recalled the figure of Federico Mayor Zaragoza, emphasizing his commitment to peace and dialogue. She stressed that the award's message aligns with this year's theme, as “to coexist with respect is, in essence, to build peace every day.”
The first prizes were awarded to: Posa’t a les seves sabates from Escola Enric Grau Fontseré de Flix (upper primary cycle), El so del respecte from IES Moll Vell de Port d’Alcúdia (first cycle of ESO), El respecte no és culpable from Institut de Flix (second cycle of ESO), Totes les accions compten from Col·legi Cultural de Badalona (baccalaureate and vocational training), and Amistades que salvan from the Fundación Paulo Freire de Babahoyo (Ecuador) (entities and institutions).
