Improved power line with new insulators in a protected natural environment.

Endesa has renovated a medium-voltage aerial power line in Els Ports Natural Park, with an investment of 50,000 euros, to improve service for five municipalities in the Baix Ebre region.

Endesa has carried out a technological upgrade of a medium-voltage aerial power line within the Els Ports Natural Park. The objective is to reinforce and increase the quality and continuity of the electricity service for five municipalities in the Baix Ebre region. The investment amounted to 50,000 euros.
The work was executed using a helicopter to avoid heavy machinery in a protected environment and due to the terrain's complex orography, thereby minimizing potential impacts on the natural environment.
This operation, conducted in the municipality of Alfara de Carles, will benefit over 12,000 customers in Aldover, Roquetes, Tortosa, and Xerta, in addition to Alfara de Carles.
Two medium-voltage metal towers have been replaced, and half a kilometer of 25 kV aerial cabling has been renewed. Additionally, glass insulators have been exchanged for new polymeric ones, which are lighter and more resistant to weather conditions and vandalism.
Furthermore, the line's cables have been coated with insulating material to reduce electrical risks for avifauna. These one-meter long insulating devices increase the distance between the tower structure and the live components, minimizing danger to birds.
These works are part of Endesa's Investment Plan in the Terres de l’Ebre, aimed at renovating and modernizing the electrical grid to improve service and promote the integration of renewable energies.
