The Republican party has regained the mayoralty of l'Ametlla de Mar following the approval of a motion of no confidence, with the support of PSC and Entesa councilors, promising stability and new projects for the municipality.

The new mayor, who had previously held the position between 2015 and 2023, justified the motion due to the instability of the previous government formed by Junts and the Socialists. He assured that the new governing team will provide resources and stability, and will work to attract new investments to the locality.
The motion of no confidence was approved with the five votes from ERC councilors, the vote from the PSC councilor, and the vote from the Entesa per l'Ametlla de Mar councilor. Although ERC was the most voted party in the last municipal elections, it tied in councilors with Junts and was excluded from the local executive due to an agreement between Junts and the two PSC councilors.
An internal crisis between the two Socialist councilors and Junts' reluctance to cede the mayoralty, despite it being agreed upon, precipitated the breakdown of the previous agreement and the formation of a new government. The PSC councilor and the Entesa councilor are the new partners who have allowed ERC to regain leadership of the local executive.

"We are responsible people and we do this because we love La Cala."

The new mayor has been very critical of the previous council's management, especially regarding the sale of the elderly care home. He lamented the lack of approved budgets for the current year and the non-payment of overtime to workers, despite the previous governing team having championed the sanitation of municipal accounts.

"Selling off an asset where you have invested 5 million euros and which provided 300,000 euros annually from management fees is the antithesis of governing."

For her part, the former mayor lamented the manner of the motion of no confidence, describing it as a difficult day personally and institutionally. She insisted that her government did not fall due to institutional blockade or lack of projects, but rather due to political interests and party calculations. She defended her management and stated that she will run again as a mayoral candidate in the next municipal elections.

"It doesn't hurt me to lose the mayoralty, but rather the methods and the disloyalty, for having shared responsibility and working hours with someone who, while looking me in the eyes, was walking in another direction. This, personally, is very hard to digest."

The new governing partners have defended the agreement based on coherence and respect, criticizing Junts for not fulfilling the pact that granted the mayoralty to the PSC. The Entesa councilor added that the new government must fight for the entire town.
