The L'Ametlla de Mar Town Council has submitted objections to the Territorial Sector Plan for wind and photovoltaic generation (PLATER), opening its doors to citizens so they can also present their concerns. These objections are based on technical criteria similar to those used in 2022 to modify the Municipal Urban Planning Plan (POUM), a process that was halted when the Generalitat de Catalunya assumed responsibilities for renewable energy planning.
The council strongly opposes the allocation of productive agricultural land, such as olive groves and fruit trees, for the massive installation of photovoltaic panels. The objections also emphasize the need to preserve traditional architectural heritage, particularly dry stone walls, which could disappear with the implementation of solar plants. As an alternative, it is proposed to relocate these installations to areas of intensive farming, land near industrial estates, or spaces already designated as developable.
The town council believes the territory has already contributed sufficiently to energy solidarity, citing the proximity to nuclear power plants, combined cycle plants, and existing wind farms as reasons to consider the PLATER's new pressure unjust.
Aware of the impact on numerous private properties, municipal offices have opened special consultation and assistance hours for residents and individuals wishing to submit their objections before the deadline.
The municipal groups of ERC and Entesa have announced an initiative to present further objections at the next Plenary session, open to other political groups. This action follows the recent objections filed by the Town Council against the photovoltaic plant by Solar Aragón I, SL, which plans for 4,576 solar panels and an investment exceeding 1.2 million euros.
