The Doctor Ferran Foundation and the Muiño Family have established a scholarship for innovation in pediatric care, aiming to strengthen the quality of service at the Hospital Universitari de Tortosa Verge de la Cinta and specialize local medicine.

This program is born from the desire to improve pediatric care in the Terres de l'Ebre, facilitating the training of healthcare professionals in reference centers, both nationally and internationally. The goal is for these specialists to acquire new clinical and technological skills and subsequently apply them at the hospital, incorporating highly specialized techniques currently unavailable.
The scholarship is endowed with a financial contribution of 12,000 euros, to be distributed over three years (2026, 2027, and 2028). These funds are entirely dedicated to covering expenses derived from training stays, including tuition fees, travel, accommodation, and specific materials.
One of the most significant impacts of this initiative will be the reduction of pediatric patient referrals to hospitals outside the region, especially to Barcelona. This will allow families to receive top-level healthcare without the need to travel.

"The Muiño Family has emphasized the importance of contributing to ensuring health equity and strengthening healthcare services in the region, advocating for continuous training and medical excellence as key pillars for the future of pediatrics in the Terres de l'Ebre."

The professionals benefiting from the scholarship commit to transferring the acquired knowledge through the implementation of new care protocols or the launch of innovative techniques within a maximum of six months after completing their training. The Doctor Ferran Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to research and improving health, will channel this donation and oversee the proper execution of the program, as well as its dissemination and impact in the region.
