The proposal to appoint Òscar Subirats as the new general manager of Gesat will be presented this Wednesday to the board of directors of the municipal company in Tortosa, which must validate the decision. Sources from ERC consulted indicate that Subirats will leave his position as councillor at the Reus City Council once his appointment is official.
Subirats, currently a councillor in Reus, would take over the management of Gesat, the entity responsible for the administration of the Hospital de la Santa Creu de Jesús and the Clínica Terres de l’Ebre. According to Reusdigital.cat, his resignation from the municipal role would open the door for Meritxell Barberà, who was number 7 on the ERC list in the 2023 municipal elections, to take his place.
“"The procedure is still open and the final approval of the appointment is pending, but it is evident that this is a very important professional opportunity and a challenge that I undertake with responsibility. This possibility would allow me to start a new phase linked to public management, health, and service to people."
The councillor, who has been responsible for the Business area, particularly highlighted his time leading the Health Department, a period marked by the transfer of the Sant Joan Hospital from the City Council to the Generalitat and by the COVID-19 pandemic.
