More than a thousand teachers and education staff took to the streets of Tortosa this Tuesday to protest against the recent agreement between the Catalan Government and the CCOO and UGT unions.

The demonstration, organized by USTEC-stes, CGT, and ASPEPC-SPS, gathered between 800 and 2,500 participants in the Baix Ebre capital. Protesters criticized the deal for being signed without the support of the majority of the workforce and for failing to address core issues like workload and classroom ratios.

"Times have changed and we do not accept a pact made in offices by partisan union elites."

The unions have called for a major demonstration in Barcelona this Friday, hoping to force the Education Department to scrap the current agreement and start new talks that reflect the actual needs of the teaching community.
