Fifteen organizations have called for a protest this Saturday in Tortosa to demand that the Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, maintains Toni Curcó as the director of Els Ports Natural Park.

The controversy began after the Government decided not to renew Toni Curcó's commission, seeking a more managerial profile. However, groups like GEPEC-EdC and Ecologists of Catalonia claim this move yields to pressure from local mayors and landowners who wish to exert political control over the protected area.

"This dismissal will set a very dangerous precedent and create a situation of precariousness in the management of natural parks."

Xavi Jiménez · President of GEPEC-EdC
The demonstration is scheduled for 11:00 AM in front of the Government delegation in Terres de l'Ebre. Supporters argue that the director's removal, planned for March 31st, prioritizes economic interests over environmental conservation.
