Tortosa City Council and Civil Protection are on high alert this Saturday as a severe wind storm has flooded rice fields with seawater across the Terres de l'Ebre region.

The weather conditions in southern Catalonia have triggered emergency protocols. Local authorities in Tortosa are currently evaluating the impact of the gale-force winds throughout the Baix Ebre district.
A significant consequence of the storm is the flooding of rice paddies with salt water. This environmental issue has resurfaced this Saturday, threatening local agriculture in areas such as Deltebre.
Furthermore, the Catalan Transit Service reported ongoing road issues due to the wind. Civil Protection has dispatched ES-Alert messages to mobile phones, urging residents to avoid travel until Sunday.
