The decision is part of the maintenance of Level 3 of the Alfa Plan established by the Generalitat de Catalunya, which imposes significant restrictions on the use of pyrotechnic material. Adverse weather conditions, including high temperatures, mistral winds, and lack of rainfall, have led to this preventive measure.
This is the second time the pyrotechnic show has been postponed, after it was already rescheduled from September 7th, coinciding with the festival's closing. The initial postponement to September 11th was conditional on the evolution of safety conditions.
The council emphasized that the cancellation is not a municipal decision but strict compliance with current regulations set by the Generalitat, within the framework of the INFOCAT plan and the Alfa Plan. These measures aim to ensure public safety and prevent any increase in fire risk.
The Tortosa City Council regrets the inconvenience caused to citizens and thanks them for their understanding, reminding them that the Alfa Plan details the necessary preventive measures according to the forest fire risk level.
