The Tortosa City Council denied on February 11 the loss of 485,748 euros in subsidies for the municipal nursery schools of Ferreries and Temple, countering claims by the opposition.

The local government explained that 400.000 euros could not be used because the grant required the service to start in the 2024-2025 academic year, but the centers opened in September 2025. An additional 100,000 euros were returned due to lower-than-expected construction costs.
The executive branch emphasized that these first two public nurseries in Tortosa were built in a record time of two and a half years, fulfilling a 40-year community demand.
