The city of Tortosa is preparing to celebrate the traditional Mass of the Descent of the Virgin of the Cinta during the night of March 24th to 25th at the Cathedral of Santa Maria.

This liturgical celebration commemorates the historical tradition in which the city's patron saint delivered her sash as a sign of protection. The event will begin with an audio recreation of this delivery, narrated by journalist Sílvia Tejedor before the religious service starts.
The musical portion of the ceremony will feature soprano Montserrat Bella Roma and organist Andreu Ferré Llaó. Their performance will accompany the faithful and local authorities during one of the most important nights in the Baix Ebre capital's festive calendar.
A highlight of this year's event will be the unveiling of a new painting by artist Josep Rollón during the veneration of the Holy Relic. The artwork depicts the patron saint descending toward the temple past the historic walls and the Suda Castle.
