The Tortosa City Council today introduced the first volunteers for the Cuidem Temple project, a citizen participation pilot plan designed to promote civility and combat uncivil behavior in the neighborhood.

The Tortosa council has launched this initiative, initially focused on the Temple neighborhood, with the aim of gradually extending it to other areas of the municipality. The idea arose from a citizen proposal to collaborate with the local administration in improving public spaces.
The first participants, Núria, Maria José, and Susi, along with two other residents, will act as awareness agents. Their role will be informative and educational, without any sanctioning function. They will be identified and accompanied by municipal civic agents, and will maintain contact with the Local Police to address tense or conflict situations.
The volunteers plan to organize monthly information booths and distribute materials provided by Acciona, the cleaning company. The goal is to raise awareness about uncivil behaviors such as not picking up pet waste, feeding animals improperly, disposing of trash incorrectly, or parking in prohibited areas.

"These are neighbors who love the neighborhood and have decided to dedicate part of their time to improving it, promoting responsible attitudes and remembering that public space belongs to everyone and that, therefore, we must all take care of it, as we must be accountable."

The Mayor of Tortosa
The Mayor thanked the volunteers for their commitment, highlighting them as an example of active participation. This pilot project will serve to evaluate results and gather experiences for future expansion to other neighborhoods and towns in Tortosa, aiming to build a cleaner, tidier, and friendlier city.
