The agreement for the new Generalitat budgets opens the door to integrating the Ebre region's municipal hospitals into Salut Terres de l'Ebre, a measure also affecting the Amposta Comarcal Hospital, which the mayor of that town, Adam Tomàs, views favorably. The goal is to ensure the viability and future of these healthcare centers.
Lleixà described the news as "very good" for the territory, highlighting that it will allow addressing citizens' needs and strengthening Tortosa's municipal hospitals. The integration of the two Tortosa centers aims to ensure their survival and reorganize the healthcare model in the Terres de l'Ebre Health Region, securing their economic sustainability.
The talks with CatSalut aim to define a collaboration protocol to guarantee the quality and economic viability of the centers. Lleixà emphasized that this agreement is a significant step towards strong, quality public healthcare rooted in the territory, and will enhance healthcare coordination in the region, alongside the Hospital Universitari de Tortosa Verge de la Cinta.
This model is already being implemented at the Móra d'Ebre Comarcal Hospital and is expected to consolidate services, attract and retain professionals, and offer greater security to both staff and users, ensuring healthcare excellence.
Furthermore, a selection process has been opened to fill the director-manager vacancy at Clínica Terres de l'Ebre and Hospital de la Santa Creu de Jesús, following Matilde Villarroya's decision to leave the position for professional reasons. The mayor thanked Villarroya for her dedication and expressed confidence that the selected individual will effectively lead the potential integration process.
