The Tortosa City Council has presented the 29th Renaissance Festival, set to take place from July 16th to 19th, featuring a poster by Cinta Segarra and a focus on 16th-century arts.
The city of Tortosa has unveiled the initial details for the 29th Renaissance Festival, scheduled from July 16th to 19th. The poster, designed by Cinta Segarra, highlights the festival's iconic characters, such as the giants, and Renaissance art.
Mayor Mar Lleixà emphasized that the poster invites attendees to immerse themselves in one of Europe's finest historical recreations. This year's thematic focus will be on Renaissance arts in 16th-century Tortosa, celebrating the architecture, music, literature, and artistic expressions that made the city a cultural hub within the Crown of Aragon.
“
"It is a poster that invites citizens and visitors to immerse themselves, once again, in one of the best historical recreations celebrated in Catalonia and across Europe"
Internationally acclaimed illustrator Ignasi Blanch will serve as the opening speaker for this edition, closely aligned with the artistic theme. Additionally, Tula Llorach, president of the Rastre Neighborhood Association and the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Tortosa, will receive the Festival's Standard, recognizing the city's vibrant neighborhood and associative fabric.
The councilor for the Renaissance Festival, Jordi Jordan, indicated that the program is being finalized, building on the success of the previous year. A study by the Chair of Local and Regional Economy at URV quantified the economic impact of the 2025 edition at 7.7 million euros in Tortosa and 10 million in the Terres de l'Ebre region, with a return of 25 euros for every euro invested.
“
"The URV study confirmed, with scientific data, that the past edition was a very well-received event, especially by people from outside the Terres de l'Ebre and Catalonia, who also had a very positive assessment of the city of Tortosa"
Jordan reiterated the festival's commitment to scientific rigor, with the Historiographical Conferences on July 2nd and 9th serving as a prelude, fully integrated into this year's thematic focus.
