The city of Tortosa is preparing to host the XXIX Renaissance Festival, taking place from July 16th to 19th, with a program including 62 shows and the addition of new venues such as the former Porcar spa.

The XXIX Renaissance Festival in Tortosa will commence this Thursday with the opening ceremony and a proclamation by illustrator Ignasi Blanch. The celebration, running until July 19th, will feature a total of 62 shows, with over thirty being new additions. This year, new venues like the former Porcar spa are being incorporated.
Mayor Mar Lleixà and the first deputy mayor, Jordi Jordan, have presented the latest details of the festival. Fifty percent of tickets for limited-capacity shows have already been sold, with some already sold out.
The renovation works for the former Porcar spa, costing 342,430 euros, are nearing completion. This emblematic space, which was in a poor state of conservation, has undergone comprehensive restoration and will host two shows: a fire performance titled 'Ignis Chorum' and the family premiere 'Lo Drac del Balneari d’en Porcar'.
Lleixà highlighted the recovery of this heritage site as a first step towards its future use as the headquarters for the Baix Ebre Regional Archive. A special security operation, coordinated by the Local Police, Mossos d'Esquadra, and Civil Protection, has also been organized to ensure the festival runs smoothly.
The use of public transport or designated parking areas is recommended to avoid crowds in the Historic City. Councillor Jordi Jordan noted that the 'Historical-Artistic Journeys' through the underground galleries of the Suda Castle and the Walls promenade are among the new features highlighting restored monumental spaces.
As a novelty, gates will close after the parade, and before the fireworks, a show combining pyrotechnics and live music has been scheduled. A special cleaning operation for the historic center is also planned.
