The Tortosa City Council and the Blood and Tissue Bank will hold the annual Blood Donation Marathon on March 25 and 26 at the local Town Hall Square.

A specialized tent will be set up in the heart of Tortosa to collect blood and plasma. Organizers aim to maintain the high participation levels of previous years, noting that Catalonia requires over 230,000 donations annually to treat patients with cancer and chronic diseases.

"Under the slogan 'The bond that makes us immense', this year's Marathon focuses on this selfless gesture that makes us great as people."

Health officials emphasize the need for young donors to ensure a generational handover. Statistics show that one in three blood bags is used for cancer patients, highlighting the critical nature of these community events in Baix Ebre.
