Tortosa to Host Terres de l'Ebre Economic Forum on New Energy Model

The sixth edition of the event, organized by the Tortosa City Council and the Chamber of Commerce, will focus on the challenges of energy transition.

The Tortosa City Council and the Tortosa Chamber of Commerce have announced the sixth edition of the Terres de l'Ebre Economic Forum, scheduled for May 28, which will focus on the new energy model.

This year, the event is designed as a colloquium to address the challenge of the new energy model and will take place at the Centre Cívic Ferreries, separate from ExpoEbre, unlike previous editions. As highlighted by the mayor of Tortosa, the PLATER foresees that by 2050, the Ebro regions will produce 25% of Catalonia's wind energy and 4.6% of its photovoltaic energy, totaling 13% of renewable energy.
The forum will delve into the collective vision required for the new energy model in the Terres de l'Ebre. Topics will include energy transition in Catalonia, industrial decarbonization, regulatory changes in storage and self-consumption, and the integration of key technologies such as bioenergy, batteries, and waste management.
Presentations will feature the director of the Catalan Energy Institute, the director of the Chemical Technology Unit at EURECAT, a lawyer specializing in environmental and energy law, and the vice-president of the Efficient Energy Cluster of Catalonia (CEEC).
Additionally, the Chamber of Commerce and the City Council will present the CEL Cambra Ebre project, a local energy community that already includes nine municipalities, with 14 installations and 270 members. This initiative, considered a success story, is awaiting a legal procedure for its activation by the distributor.
