The Hospital Universitari de Tortosa Verge de la Cinta (HUTVC) closed 2025 with a substantial improvement in managing External Consultation waiting lists, increasing patients within the guarantee period to 60.29%.

According to internal data from the SAP Assistencial program, the increase in patients seen within the guarantee period has been notable, rising from 44.55% recorded at the end of June to 60.29% achieved on December 31, 2025. This positive trend confirms the reduction in waiting times at the Tortosa hospital center.

"There is not a single action, but a sum of decisions and constant work by the teams, aimed at resolving cases with greater agility and guaranteeing patient access within the established deadlines."

Maria Ferré · HUTVC Manager
The improvement is attributed to a set of organizational and assistance measures, including staff reinforcement, reorganization of schedules, and closer coordination with the Institut Català de la Salut (ICS) network and other CatSalut hospitals. Services such as Cardiology, Dermatology, Digestive, Otorhinolaryngology, Hematology, and Oncology maintain 100% of patients within the guarantee period.
Other specialties experienced a significant qualitative leap during the second half of 2025. Neurology, Pulmonology, and Endocrinology and Nutrition have managed to place 100% or close to 92% of patients within the guarantee period, respectively. The evolution of Urology is particularly noteworthy, where guaranteed patients grew from 10.02% to 55.6%, reducing the waiting list from 958 to 126 people.
In Ophthalmology, the improvement has also been very significant, with an increase in guaranteed patients from 41.29% to 94.56%, and a reduction in the waiting list from 1,366 to 441 patients. These advances occur in a context of population aging in the Terres de l’Ebre, which increases healthcare demand, although the hospital maintains an average patient experience score of 8.9 in External Consultations according to the NPS system.
