A severe windstorm hit the Ebro Delta this Saturday, February 14th, leading to the seawater flooding of over 400 hectares of rice fields in Deltebre.

The Left Ebro Irrigation Community reported that the salt water intrusion near Fangar has caused damages exceeding one million euros, surpassing the impact of the previous Gloria storm.

"There have been five or six breaches and the entry of salt water. The goal is to stop this seawater transfer."

Javier Casanova · President of the Irrigation Community
Emergency services, including the Bombers, have responded to hundreds of calls across Catalonia. The storm also forced the cancellation of Carnival events in several towns like Amposta and Tortosa.
