The University Hospital of Tortosa Verge de la Cinta (HUTVC) celebrates its 50th anniversary throughout 2026 with an extensive program of cultural, sports, and scientific activities in the capital of Baix Ebre.

The program of events to commemorate the half-century of the HUTVC includes the creation of a commemorative exhibition and book, as well as a literary and an artistic competition. The latter aims to select a sculpture that will preside over the entrance of the future new hospital building in Tortosa.

"fifty years are much more than a numerical milestone. They are many years of life, overcoming challenges, innovation, and, above all, people"

Maria Ferré · HUTVC Manager
The hospital was inaugurated on November 22, 1976, as the Residència Sanitària Verge de la Cinta, being the first public center in the Terres de l'Ebre region. Since then, it has evolved into the university and reference center for the territory.
As part of the anniversary, the Ebro singer-songwriter Montse Castellà has composed the tribute song titled Quanta vida cap en 50 anys. Furthermore, the hospital has submitted its candidacy to receive the prestigious Creu de Sant Jordi 2026 award.
