The investiture ceremony took place with the Tortosa City Council plenary hall completely full. Following a secret ballot, Lleixà secured the majority with 11 votes, surpassing the 10 obtained by Meritxell Roigé (Junts per Tortosa). This makes her the first ERC mayor in 86 years and the second woman to hold the office in the city.
“"Assuming the mayoralty is an honor but above all a commitment to all Tortosa residents, which I take on with conviction and deep gratitude. The love for our city must be our driving force."
In her speech, the new mayor emphasized the need for a Tortosa that is "cohesive, connected, and focused on people," moving away from "the politics of noise." She announced key projects such as opening the city to the Ebro River and executing the 25 million euros from the Neighborhood Law (Llei de Barris) to regenerate the historic center.
Furthermore, Lleixà promised to create a Catalan language council to promote its use and confirmed she would work towards removing the controversial Francoist monument from the river, a declaration that drew strong applause from the hall.
The opposition spokesperson, Meritxell Roigé, strongly criticized the agreement, alleging that "three parties that lost the elections are dividing up the mayoralty." For his part, Víctor Grau (Movem-PSC) defended the legitimacy of the agreement as a "legitimate and democratic decision to guarantee stability and progress," while Maria Jesús Viña (ERC) recalled that democracy "is about adding up majorities."
