The Royal Archconfraternity of Our Lady of Cinta celebrates the Grand Concert de la Cinta once again this year, as part of the city's main festival. The event will take place in the High Altar of the Cathedral of Santa Maria de Tortosa on Wednesday, September 2nd, at eight in the evening.
This year, the concert is themed ‘The Three Tenors’ and will feature the voices of Ignacio Guzmán, Jorge Morata, and Jesús Piñero. The musical accompaniment will be provided by pianist Alessio Coppola and the Cor de Cambra Tyrichae.
Ignacio Guzmán, an Argentinian tenor, has performed in major theaters in Europe and South America since 2018 at the Palau de la Música Catalana. Jorge Morata, from Valencia, has an extensive career in prestigious festivals and has interpreted classic operatic roles such as Don Giovanni, also participating in oratorios like Mozart's Requiem. Jesús Piñero, from Tarragona, completed his vocal training in Europe and has performed at the Palau de la Música Catalana, among other venues.
The concert will include fourteen musical pieces, notably ‘El cant dels ocells’, ‘Adeste Fideles’, ‘Agnus Dei’, ‘Panis Angelicus’, ‘Ave Maria’ by various composers, and works by Josep Ollé i Sabaté, Artur Gaya, and Jordi Fusté.
According to Josep Cardona, First Steward of the Archconfraternity, the event fulfills the entity's mission to preserve and transmit the worship of the patron saint, keeping alive a spiritual and historical legacy essential to Tortosa's identity.
The concert is produced by Darmósmusic Projects. Admission is by a donation of 10 euros and is supported by the Cathedral of Tortosa, the Diputació de Tarragona, and the Tortosa City Council.
