The head of the Executive presided over the proclamation and presentation of the 2026 National Culture Awards in El Vendrell, honors that recognized the careers of figures such as singer Sílvia Pérez Cruz, actor Oriol Pla, playwright Victoria Szpunberg, writer Pol Guasch, stage director Àlex Ollé, sound artists Cabosanroque, and Jaŋde Editorial.
During the event, held at the Pau Casals Auditorium in tribute to the musician, Illa highlighted the importance of Catalan culture as a "pillar" and "engine of prosperity," stating that "in 2026 we can tell the world a collective 'we are Catalans,' where everyone feels represented and actively involved."
The Minister of Culture, Sònia Hernández, and the president of CoNCA, Margarida Troguet, also attended the celebration, which underscored the "creative strength of the country" and the "vibrant, diverse, and constantly transforming culture" of the awardees.
“"Catalan culture is experiencing a good moment, and this year's awardees are the best example. We have succeeded in making culture one of our pillars, understanding it as a right, a generator of belonging, and also an engine of prosperity."
The awards recognized the musical excellence of Sílvia Pérez Cruz, the literary career of Pol Guasch, the artistic practice of Cabosanroque, the initiative of Jaŋde Editorial, the acting career of Oriol Pla, Victoria Szpunberg's ability to combine humor and drama, and the creative vision of Àlex Ollé.
