The City Council of Lleida has launched 10,000 bookmarks dedicated to 24 women whose personal and professional journeys have contributed to the city's social, cultural, educational, civic, and economic development.
This initiative is part of the Genealogies project for the I Congress 'Women Moving Cities', which aims to recover, recognize, and disseminate the memory of women who have left a significant mark on Lleida's history.
The bookmarks, a numbered collection of 24 pieces, invite citizens to discover the stories of these women, including scientists, entrepreneurs, educators, and activists. They have been distributed to libraries, educational centers, bookstores, and women's organizations with a clear educational and outreach purpose.
The action continues the tradition of banners recently installed on the streets of Lleida, bringing female genealogies from public spaces into the hands of citizens.
Throughout October, the congress features parallel activities of a cultural, educational, and participatory nature to reflect on women's roles, female leadership, and the creation of more inclusive cities.
The I Congress 'Women Moving Cities' will take place on October 23rd and 24th at the Palau de Congressos de la Llotja in Lleida, addressing topics such as feminist municipalism and gender-sensitive urban planning.
Additionally, the first episode of the congress's official podcast, titled "Dones de Lleida" (Women of Lleida), has been released, offering a new space for conversation to delve into the congress's themes and give voice to influential women in the city.
