The Tortosa City Council, led by Mayor Mar Lleixà, has launched the call for the second edition of the 8M Awards for Women of Tortosa, scheduled for presentation on March 7 at the Tortosa Museum.

"With these awards, we aim to recognize the worth of the women of Tortosa, based on a proposal debated within the framework of the Municipal Women's Council. It is always necessary to know in order to recognize."

The institutional event for International Women's Day will take place on Saturday, March 7, at 11:30 AM in the didactic classroom of the Tortosa Museum. The awards distinguish seven main categories: Culture, Entrepreneur, Sportswoman, Scientist, External Projection, Trajectory, and Posthumous Title, in addition to a special recognition for a women's collective.
The nomination process is open to organizations and the general public from this Friday until February 13. Proposals must be sent via email to siad@tortosa.cat, including the woman's name, category, contact information, and a brief motivational summary for the candidacy.
Mayor Lleixà explained that the winners will be chosen in an extraordinary Women's Council, which will be convened once all proposals have been received. The first edition received over 80 nominations, recognizing figures such as artist Pilar Lanau Franch, astrophysicist Maite Beltran Sorolla, and sculptor Cinta Sabaté Querol.
