The Consell Comarcal del Baix Empordà has presented its II Regional Plan for Affective, Sexual, and Gender Diversity, which will be in effect from 2027 to 2030. The objective is to promote equality and combat discrimination in the region, with the collaboration of municipalities such as Calonge i Sant Antoni and Begur.

The document, presented on Tuesday, November 3rd, at the Castell de Calonge, establishes a shared framework for working towards guaranteeing the rights of LGTBI+ individuals and providing a reference for diversity policies in the region. This initiative continues the regional effort to build a more inclusive society.
The Begur Town Council will join the plan, which seeks to promote respect for affective, sexual, and gender diversity. Begur's Equality Councillor, Jordi González, emphasized the importance of translating these objectives into the daily lives of municipalities, stating that "everyone should be able to feel respected and safe in their town, without having to hide who they are or whom they love".
González also highlighted the value of cooperation between administrations: "Working together with the other municipalities helps us provide a more responsive approach to citizens' needs. Respect for diversity must be built every day, including through public services and community spaces".
The presentation was attended by Mònica González, Director of the Territorial Services for Equality and Feminism in Girona; Enric Marquès, President of the Consell Comarcal del Baix Empordà; Elena Montiel, Councillor for Equality in Calonge i Sant Antoni; and David Martín, regional Equality Councillor, who closed the event.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to continue advancing in the recognition of diversity and in building spaces where all individuals can be who they are, with freedom and on equal terms.
