Begur celebrates the 9th edition of the Carmen Amaya Flamenco Festival from November 19th to 22nd, featuring a program of concerts, tablao, documentary film, workshops, and a walking tour honoring the legendary bailaora.

The Empordà municipality of Begur hosts, from November 19th to 22nd, 2026, the ninth edition of the Carmen Amaya Flamenco Festival. Organized by ACiT Begur with the support of the Begur Town Council, the event offers 14 activities combining music, dance, film, workshops, and a painting exhibition, utilizing various town locations such as the Cinema Casino and Mas d’en Pinc, the bailaora's former home.
This year's program focuses on generational change and the fusion of flamenco with other artistic languages. Artists from Jerez, Triana, and Barcelona participate, engaging in a dialogue with the memory of Carmen Amaya. Attendees can experience cante jondo, rock fusion by Mixtolobo, and the rumba of Rumbajarí, alongside the tradition of Catalan Rumba from the Carabutsí association. Bailaora Noelia Sabarea will present her show «La Llama», a scenic encounter with the bailaora's legacy.
The festival kicks off on Thursday, November 19th, at 6:30 PM at the Cinema Casino with a concert by Jerez guitarist Juan Diego Mateos, followed by the screening of the documentary «Hijos del Compás» (5/8 euros).
On Friday, November 20th, Plaça Forgas will host a free Catalan rumba workshop at 5 PM, organized by EMUGBA and led by the Carabutsí Association. At 10 PM, Caseta Carmen will feature the tablao «Olé a Triana» by Juan Mateos (15/18 euros).
On Saturday, November 21st, the day begins at 9 AM with the 'Ruta matinera' tribute to Carmen Amaya, guided by Sandra Bisbe (5 euros, booking required). Subsequently, there will be painting workshops with Martine Van Der Noort (20 euros) and compás workshops with Jesule de la Tomasa (10 euros). Caseta Carmen will host the remaining activities, including free concerts by Mixtolobo (1 PM) and Madera Viva by Jordi Rodríguez (22/25 euros) at 6 PM. The main shows will be «La Llama» by Noelia Sabarea (22/25 euros) at 9:30 PM and a concert by Jesule de la Tomasa (free) at 11:30 PM.
On Sunday, November 22nd, the festival will conclude at Mas d’en Pinc with two Catalan rumba groups: Rumbajarí (12 PM) and Piratas Rumba Versions (3:30 PM), featuring musicians like Tito Carlos and Ramon Giménez Santiago. The ticket for the popular sardine feast (25/30 euros) includes these two concerts.
Throughout the festival, Caseta Carmen will host a painting exhibition by Art Studio Begur featuring local and international artists.
