Three companies from Begur were recognized this Wednesday in Torroella de Montgrí for their commitment to social responsibility, excelling in the categories of decent work and gender equality.

Armacell Iberia and Summum Hotel Management (Hotel Eetu) received distinctions in the decent work and labor conditions category, while Immobiliària Comangau was recognized for gender equality. The awards were presented during the VI Recognition Conference for Socially Responsible Companies of Baix Empordà, held at the Espai Ter in Torroella de Montgrí.
These recognitions highlight the contribution of Begur's business sector to improving work environments and equal opportunities. The initiative, promoted by the Consell Comarcal del Baix Empordà in collaboration with the working group of the Economic Promotion departments of the region's town councils, identifies and publicizes business practices that generate a positive social impact.
The Councilor for Economic Promotion of the Begur Town Council, Andreu Peñalver, emphasized that “this recognition highlights an essential part of business activity: how the people who work there are cared for and how equal opportunities are guaranteed”. He added that “It is a source of satisfaction and an incentive to continue moving forward that three companies from Begur are recognized in these areas”.
The conference, under the theme 'Commitment to Quality Employment', evaluated actions and policies implemented between January and October 2026, prioritizing practices that go beyond legal obligations and considering the impact, quality, and innovation of the candidacies.
The decent work and labor conditions category values measures that promote team well-being, work-life balance, and professional development (SDG 8), while the gender equality category (SDG 5) focuses on actions that promote real equal opportunities within organizations.
This edition saw participation from 33 companies and foundations in Baix Empordà, with a total of 79 submissions across four categories: decent work (26), gender equality (11), inclusion and diversity (23), and collaboration and community commitment (19).
Peñalver underscored the value of publicizing good practices to inspire other companies. The Economic Promotion department aims to continue working to ensure that Begur's economic development translates into quality employment and opportunities for people.
