65-year-old woman dies after falling from cliff in Torroella de Montgrí

A 65-year-old woman died this Tuesday afternoon after falling from a cliff along the camí de ronda coastal path in Torroella de Montgrí, located in the Baix Empordà region.

The accident took place near Cala Roca de la Cadira while the victim was walking with a friend. Emergency services were alerted around 12:45 PM, triggering a major rescue operation involving Firefighters and mountain rescue specialists (GRAE).
Rescue teams used both a helicopter and sea vessels, with Maritime Rescue being the first to reach the location. Divers and emergency command units from Girona were also deployed to the scene.
Medical staff from the Medical Emergency System (SEM) could only certify the woman's death upon arrival. Local authorities are currently investigating the causes of the fatal fall.
