The Government has ordered the closure of access points to the Les Gavarres massif due to the forest fire affecting the area since this Friday, maintaining the lockdown in seven municipalities.

The president of the Generalitat has confirmed that the lockdown order remains in place for residents of seven towns in the Baix Empordà region. Although the current fire perimeter is approximately 2,400 hectares, authorities warn that the potential impact could be much greater if the flames spread throughout the entire forest massif.
Extinguishing efforts are supported by nearly 440 firefighters from the Generalitat and around 100 personnel from the UME. The main goal of the emergency services is to prevent personal injury, after damage to homes and gardens was reported in urbanizations such as les Cabanyes and Mas Ambrós.
Authorities have reminded the public of the importance of following Civil Protection instructions and avoiding travel in the affected area. With a new heatwave approaching, the Government does not rule out extending access restrictions to other natural areas in the country to prevent further fires.

"The priority objective is to avoid personal injury, the only irreparable thing."
