The Baix Empordà region is under alert for strong winds and rough seas throughout Sunday, leading to the suspension of various activities and urging residents to exercise caution.

Protecció Civil has issued warnings due to intense wind gusts and heavy swells affecting the area, advising against outdoor activities and unnecessary travel. This situation has forced the cancellation of several scheduled events for the day.
In Palamós, the traditional First Swim of the Year, planned for Sunday morning, has been postponed until April 3. Mayor Maria Puig confirmed the cancellation of the palm blessing as well and urged prudence for those needing to go outside.
Meanwhile, Begur had already announced the suspension of the Bacanard Trail, a race also scheduled for this Sunday. The organizers prioritized participant safety and are currently seeking a new date for the event.

"We are monitoring the situation as we do in these cases. Some municipalities have activated the DUPROCIM (Municipal Civil Protection Unique Document) and it is very windy, but for now, we are not at an alert level from CECAT (Catalonia Operational Coordination Center)."

Enric Marquès · President of the Baix Empordà Council
In Sant Feliu de Guíxols, the wind caused a tree to fall in the Jardins Juli Garreta, requiring prompt intervention from municipal services. The Local Police secured the area and cordoned off a perimeter to ensure pedestrian safety, while other minor incidents have been reported in the city.
