The arrival of summer brings an increase of nearly 120,000 people to the region, creating additional pressure on the healthcare system. The main goal is to prevent the saturation of emergency services and ensure that patients go to the most appropriate care facility based on the severity of their condition.
The Hospital de Palamós maintains 24-hour emergency care, while the six primary care centers in the area handle low-to-medium complexity cases more quickly. Additionally, the clinics in l'Estartit and Sant Antoni de Calonge have been reinforced.
The campaign is supported by the Unió d'Empresaris d'Hostaleria i Turisme Costa Brava Centre. Tourist establishments will provide brochures with QR codes that allow users to check locations and hours from their mobile phones. This information will also be available at town halls, tourist offices, and pharmacies in several languages.
Given the high temperatures, health authorities remind the public of the importance of staying hydrated, consuming fruits and vegetables, and avoiding direct sun exposure during the hottest hours, especially for children and the elderly.
