The prominent businessman Baltasar Parera, a leading figure in the tourism sector of the Baix Empordà region for decades, has passed away at the age of 80.

Parera took over the family business in the mid-1970s, spearheading its expansion through significant tourism developments. His legacy includes the creation of the Platja Brava campsite in Pals and the establishment of a golf course in Serres de Pals.
His career followed a long family tradition in the region, started by his great-grandfather Pere Coll i Rigau. The family successfully integrated agricultural activities with modern tourism, promoting the first golf course on the Costa Brava and various holiday apartment projects.
Beyond business, Parera was deeply involved in cultural and environmental initiatives. He promoted the Begur Cuba Catalan Foundation and served on boards related to natural areas such as Basses d'en Coll and the Cap de Creus Natural Park.
