The Forallac City Council has been honored with the Restaura Award by the Generalitat de Catalunya for its successful efforts in recovering the ancient craft of the 'pegaire' (pitch-maker).

This recognition, part of the National Craft Awards, highlights nearly thirty years of local projects dedicated to preserving traditional trades. The initiative focuses on safeguarding the intangible heritage and collective memory of the Gavarres region.
A milestone in this project was last year's Cuita de Pega event at the Can Frigola brickworks in Sant Climent de Peralta. This process involves extracting black pitch from pine wood, a technique that had vanished from the local area but is now being revitalized for future generations.
The official award ceremony is scheduled for March 25th at the Palau de la Generalitat. The local government plans to hold a new demonstration of this traditional craft in the autumn of next year.
