The Catalan Coordinator of Casteller Groups (CCCC) has approved the incorporation of Els Merlets del Montgrí as a group in formation, a decisive step to consolidate the casteller project in Torroella de Montgrí.

This approval comes after the entity met the established requirements, allowing it to access key services such as insurance coverage. The casteller project began last August, driven by a group of young people aiming to establish casteller activity permanently in the municipality.
Since rehearsals started in October, nearly fifty people have joined the initiative. A month later, the group successfully raised its first 'pilars' at the hermitage of Santa Caterina.
Minyons de Terrassa and the Colla Castellera de Figueres are acting as godparents to Els Merlets del Montgrí, offering their support and experience to the new group.
The entry as a group in formation marks the beginning of a new phase that may last between three and five years. During this period, the CCCC will monitor the growth and consolidation of Els Merlets del Montgrí, which will benefit from most of the entity's services, although voting rights in the assembly will be granted upon recognition as a full member group.

"He highlights the commitment to supporting new casteller projects, offering resources and tools during this growth phase."

With this incorporation, the CCCC now comprises over a hundred Catalan groups and around twenty groups established outside Catalonia.
