Due to the activation of the Special Plan for Flood Emergencies in Catalonia (INUNCAT) in Selva, the Lloret de Mar City Council has implemented preventive measures to ensure public safety in anticipation of intense rainfall.
Following the guidelines of the Generalitat de Catalunya, non-essential travel is restricted, activities in natural areas, parks, and urban gardens are suspended, as are sports, cultural, leisure, and recreational activities, along with markets, fairs, and outdoor events. Activities in flood-prone areas are also prohibited, and teleworking is encouraged. Educational, university, and basic and specialized social services activities are also suspended.
The City Council has activated preventive and coordination devices, including informing sports clubs and federations about the suspension of federated activities, although the municipal swimming pool will remain open as it is an individual activity. The municipality's streams have been inspected, furniture is being removed from the beaches along the Passeig, and signage and traffic diversion equipment are being prepared.
A provisional closure of the Bus Station is planned, along with a possible traffic diversion from Tossa Avenue to Vidreres Avenue. The Santa Elena campsite and areas near streams such as Passapera, Can Sota, and Canyelles have also been preemptively informed.
The City Council urges the public to exercise extreme caution, follow the instructions of emergency services, and avoid unnecessary travel. It is recommended to consult official municipal channels and Protecció Civil (Civil Protection) for updates.
