The doctors' strike on Monday resulted in minimal disruptions at Palamós Hospital and various health centers across the Baix Empordà region, with participation levels below 20%.

According to the Metges de Catalunya union, the strike had a limited impact on daily operations. Hospital officials confirmed that during the morning shift, most services continued to function normally despite the call for action.
The protest is driven by several grievances, including excessive workloads, mandatory on-call shifts, and the demand for salaries that match European standards. Doctors are also calling for better professional recognition and changes to the current Statute Framework.

"The situation of public healthcare is comparable to the chaos of the commuter rail system."

The industrial action is scheduled to continue throughout the day, with another strike day planned for Friday, February 20th, as medical professionals seek to highlight the systemic issues facing the public health sector.
