The Espai Dona (Women's Space) of the Palafrugell City Council has organized a series of free activities to commemorate the International Day for Women's Health Action, celebrated on May 28th. Under the slogan “Health and gender: when symptoms are not heard equally”, the initiative aims to raise awareness about the disparities in healthcare that affect women.
The program includes a talk, a special podcast broadcast, and a self-esteem workshop. All activities are free to attend but require prior registration due to limited capacity.
The events will begin on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 27th, in the auditorium of Can Genís with the conference “Has medicine forgotten women?”. This session will feature Helena Casadevall Adroher, founder and president of the association Igualitarium.
On the same day, Ràdio Palafrugell will broadcast a special podcast episode of the program Capacitats dedicated to women's health. Participants will include Carme Andrea, a researcher at the Hospital de Palamós, and Laia Vidal, a gynecologist at the Palafrugell Primary Care Center.
The program will continue on Thursday, May 28th, with the self-esteem workshop “Salut valenta!” (Brave Health!), to be held at the Palafrugell Primary Care Center. This activity will be led by psychologist Imma Martí.
To facilitate participation, the organization will also offer a childcare service through the Temps per Cures (Time for Care) program. The activities are open to women and dissident identities and are supported by various local health services and institutions.
