This new facility is part of a regional expansion in Girona, which now hosts 10 such classrooms following the addition of five new spaces this academic year. The initiative aims to meet the rising demand for mental health and behavioral support within the mainstream education system.
The service operates with interdisciplinary teams, combining educational support with therapeutic care. Professionals from both the education and mental health sectors work together in small groups to offer personalized guidance, focusing on emotional regulation and social skills.
Across the region, these classrooms have already served nearly 50 students, almost doubling last year's figures. The program is designed to facilitate a gradual and successful return to regular classrooms, tailored to the specific progress of each individual student.
