The Palafrugell City Council has introduced operational and technological upgrades at the municipal recycling center this February to optimize waste management and streamline citizen access to tax bonuses.

As part of the new waste management contract, the facility located at Camí Vell de Tamariu has increased its transport capacity and implemented a digital control system. This tool ensures precise tracking of user contributions, essential for claiming local tax reductions.

"The recycling center is an essential infrastructure within the new waste model that improves control and facilitates bonuses."

Laura Millán · Mayor of Palafrugell
The system rewards frequent users: residents making at least six visits per year across four different months can receive a 35% discount. Combined with home composting, total savings can reach 60%. Last year, the site processed 3,500 tons of waste.
